Celebrate the Season at Hickey Farms

The days are becoming shorter, the air is cool and crisp, and the leaves are beginning to change color to those beautiful golds and reds. Autumn has arrived, and with it, a favorite family event.

Each fall, Hickey Farms hosts their signature event—the annual Harvest Festival. What began as a tradition for family and friends 12 years ago has evolved over the years to welcome the entire community!

Beginning Saturday, October 1, and continuing through Saturday, October 29, join them throughout the week for some festive fall fun. Open 2 to 5:30pm Wednesday and Friday, and 10am to 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday, fun for the entire family awaits.

“We try to offer something for all ages while focusing on the kids of course,” shares Dean Holt of Hickey Farms. “Our unofficial motto is really: We want people to put down their phone and spend time with the kids and meet their neighbor.”

The Harvest Festival offers fun for all ages, from the corn maze with a 16-foot slide, hayrides and bouncy houses to face painting and wiggle worm (just for the kids). There will be food vendors, tasty treats, coffee, hot chocolate, beer and wine for those who come hungry and/or thirsty. In addition to the food and drink vendors, you’ll be treated to vendors offering local crafts and gifts—remember, it’s never too early to start on that holiday shopping. And, of course, don’t forget to find that perfect pumpkin (or pumpkins) to take home, whether for baking that homemade pumpkin pie or carving for Halloween.

When it comes to what Dean enjoys most about being able to share the farm and activities with the community, he says, “Watching all the kids smiling and playing is probably what makes it such a [special] event. Especially knowing winter is coming, and it is kind of one of the last outside big events of the year.”
