Veraci Pizza

Veraci Pizza

After years of a successful restaurant on wheels, owners Seth and Laura Carey decided it was time to go big and find a permanent restaurant location in which to serve their delicious wood-fired pizzas. The idea was simple yet challenging from the start, as the couple did not have the advantage of prior restaurant experience.

“We knew going from a mobile business to a brick and mortar would be challenging, but I’m not sure there’s any way to truly prepare for such a jump,” says Laura. “Add on to that, we had a ‘surprise’ third child who arrived three months prior to opening, and we were a bit overwhelmed for most of 2014.“

Despite the setbacks, the couple opened Veraci Pizza in Kendall Yards that same year. The family friendly casual space is perfect for big sports fans, as there’s always a game on one of their TVs. From prom groups and sports enthusiasts, to concert goers, couples and families, Veraci caters to all. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, wood-fired thin-crust pizzas with vegetarian and gluten-free options and desserts. House specials are rotated every two weeks, and various menu changes are made seasonally, incorporating seasonal items purchased from local farmers markets. The six rotating draft beers—often from local breweries—as well as the wide selection of bottled beer and wine are a perfect match with the cuisine.

New must-try items include the Spicy Portobello pizza, which includes caramelized onions, portobello mushrooms sautéed in spicy oil, chevre cheese on their three-cheese blend and savory red sauce, and the Spinach Salad with organic spinach, hard-boiled egg, fresh mushrooms, bacon and sunflower seeds served with Veraci’s house-made sweet vinaigrette. Also new to the menu are the root beer float and wood-fired salted caramel walnut brownies, both served with Brain Freeze ice cream! Perfect on a hot summer’s day!

Veraci is housed in a prime location for tourists and visitors to enjoy the outdoors and stop in for a bite. “Having the Centennial Trail right behind our business really adds to the environment and allows runners, bikers and walkers immediate access and creates a feeling of connection with the community,” says Laura. “We also have free 90-minute street parking and two hours of free parking in the parking lot across the street, which allows for a quick stop in or a long meal with friends. Of course, the possibility of dinner on our patio, overlooking the city and the river, is always enticing!”

Stop by Veraci Pizza, and you will see that Kendall Yards has a vibe unlike any neighborhood in the area. “There is truly something special that is happening here,” Laura says.
